Koryo - korean bbq on Telegraph Avenue.
Action shot of a group meal with some of Joe’s Livescribe coworkers.
We all went with the all-you-can-eat combo and I had no idea what I was getting into. Huge trays of raw meat and a pile of coals came to the table and we were left to take care of dinner. I left the cooking to my more seasoned fellow diners. The service was terrible (we never got refills, the soup bowls came but the soup didn’t, waited 30 minutes on the check) but the food was great. Lots of tiny dishes as would be expected, a vinegar-y salad, and meat limited only by speed of cooking.
A fun experience overall but I’ve got mixed feelings. For 30 bucks a person, you could easily get plenty of food without doing it this way. The grill option seems to be best for a group of people but it’s difficult to keep up with the cooking for so many people - everyone ends up getting only a few bites before the next round. Plus, I am totally surprised that we didn’t end up with salmonella based on the raw meat juices. We also developed a smoke problem towards the end of the meal. For me, this was one of those do it once kinda things.
