Upon recommendation from a co-worker and to put a checkmark on my Schemer app list, we MUNIed to Potrero Hill to check out Chez Papa Bistrot. Overall, a cute little place with a promising menu. The fois with blackberries and the haricot vert with proscuitto were delicious; the fries good; but the mussels lackluster despite a very intriguing apple-curry-cream-wine description. I still don’t get how that tasted bland… puzzling.

Others have had a better experience. Personally, I am ready to go back to Plouf (Belden Place) for another go at their mussels and fries.

Greenlighting board games:

Some mornings when I hear my train pulling into the tube, I imagine it’s the Blazing Fury. Sadly, less animatrons, but thankfully no surprise splashes. No one knowingly whispers as the cars rattle out “They found swarms of snakes around the tracks, one lady got bit” and if they did it wouldn’t add a delicious danger. And instead of funnel cake at the end, there’s a full day of work.

The kid version is better.

The Rangers taunt a pumpkin with bad rap so that he will ripen and rap back at them, again, badly. Somehow this is both a high point and a low point for the show.

Once you see the assignment video, it makes even less sense that the battle went down the way it did. He said “the pumpkins will jump on your head and the big one will rap at you”. Why weren’t they prepared? Why didn’t they spend a bit longer on the lyrics?

I have totally fallen for Pour La Victoire. People ask me about my bag several times a week, and then smile oddly as I manhandle the pronunciation of a name they probably won’t remember. Here David Giordano talks about the upcoming fall shoes and I wantwantwant those Chelsea boots. And though a lot of their shoes are unrealistic for a gal who walks, they do have a lot of flat shoes that are still exciting, fun, and lovely. They just put these clever little twists on their designs.

sunday afternoon at the california academy of sciences with joe and friends. predictably i was consumed by the aquarium. spent time staring into the eyes of a big red octopus, watching cuttlefish shimmer with the currents, and being hypnotized by the glowing anemones. amazing.
